Who I am
My name is Sukhvir Toor. I am 16 years old and I live with a big Indian family. I was born in Penticton and am the middle child of my family. We have moved five times but only lived in Penticton. I work at Tim Hortons but one day I want to be a lawyer. To become a lawyer I want to study at the University of British Columbia or the University of Toronto. I am never late for work even though I am usually late to school in the mornings but I complete all my assignments and try my hardest to achieve a 4.0 GPA. I love to spend time with my family and closest friends. We have a great time together and never get bored. I like to be outside in my free time with my brothers and friends. I play field hockey in school, it is one of my favourite sports. I get along with all the girls on the team, they are a little crazy but very nice. I am very respectful of other people and other cultures, I hate it when someone is being racist or discriminating someone. I look down upon all the haters of the world. I dream of travelling the world one day. I have already been to some countries around the world and have travelled outside of North America five times. My family also loves to travel, we share the dream of seeing the world. I am stubborn and try to fight for what is right. I like to have everything clean, except for my own room. My room is probably the messiest one in the house. I am proud of myself for keeping up in school so far, and not falling into peer pressure. I do not believe in alcohol or drugs. I don't ever want to try them and probably never will because I have pretty good will power and don't care what people think of me. I don't want those things to define me and they most likely wont.

Someone Like You 2
In my book, "Someone Like You" I don't like the main character, Halley's boyfriend, Macon. He is very sweet but he doesn't tell her anything. She is an open book but he keeps everything hidden from her. Halley doesn't know anything about Macon outside of his school life and a little bit of his work life. Macon barely shows up to class anyways and is always lying to everyone around him. Macon is a bad influence to her. Halley started deceiving and lying to her parents. She started to sneak out of the house in the middle of the night to go meet Macon. I think Halley should first fix her relationship with her parents and then go after boys instead of drifting further apart from them. Macon isn't helping her with anything besides giving rides which she can do by herself. Halley needs someone to talk to but he just wants her to forget all of it without letting it out of her system. Macon is hurting inside because his best friend died and he needs to heal and get everything out also. Macon's best friend, Michael was dating Halley's best friend, Scarlett and he got her pregnant before he left them for good. Halley's relationship with Macon is like a slap to the face for Scarlett because she still needs her best friend without another boy in the picture; especially if that boy is her dead boyfriend's best friend. In my opinion Macon needs to open up to Halley so she isn't dating a stranger or she needs to stop seeing him because he isn't helping her with anything.

Someone Like You
7) What would you do if you were the main character in the story? Would you have acted differently? Why or why not?
In Sarah Dessen's novel "Someone Like You", Halley Cooke is a great friend to Scarlett, her neighbor. They have been best friends since childhood and out of the two Scarlett has always been the bolder and more outgoing one. She never let anything stop her. Now Halley has to be the stronger one after Scarlett's boyfriend, Michael Sherwood's death. Halley tried to be there for Scarlett and she is trying to act normal around her. If I was in Halley's shoes I would have been doing the same thing but after many months nothing is cheering her up. I would now be trying to help adjust back into the life she knew, I would be putting a lot of energy into finding ways to cheer her up. They still haven't sat down and talked about the whole situation, they have just been ignoring it. So my first goal would be to get her to open up to me again, instead of letting her recoil into a cocoon. Also, Halley is starting to like Michael's best friend Macon. I would want to let him open up to me too, or even anyone else because he is hurting inside even if he doesn't show it. Halley is sharing stories about Macon to Scarlett and I don't think that is helping her. I would keep the stories to a minimum although she is my best friend. The little stories start reminding Scarlett of her and Michael, so they're not allowing her to heal. Halley used to have a good relationship with her parents where she told them everything and they were really close. Halley and her mother are drifting apart and don't understand each other anymore. If I was Halley restoring my relationship with my parents would be another priority of mine. Halley knows that things aren't right between them and wants to fix things but she isn't their little girl anymore, so her parents also need to come to terms with the facts. Halley is a good person, she cares for and loves the people in her life. She is working hard to get everyone's lives back on track including her own.

39. If my house burnt down...
Standing here I look out of the sparkling window to survey the beautiful day. The rays of the spring sun are shining down, touching the horizon and the tops of trees. I just want to go out and play, I can imagine it, riding my bike with the wind being whipped at my face but I can't, I'm not allowed. Someone is coming to our humble abode and mom wants me to look outstanding and not get filthy from outside. She is cooking, smells of a bakery fill our home. I look back out the window. Confusion fills me, it was a very admirable day before, why is it so dark now? What's that bitter odor captivating my nose? Suddenly, mom drops the tray, food goes everywhere. She is screaming at us to get out. The house is on fire! Panic fills me and my siblings. How did this happen? Hearing the piercing cry of my one year old brother brings me back to reality. I grab him and hold him tight, I am so afraid to let go. My mom hands me the phone and tells me to get out, she has to go get my sisters. I see my favourite toy, it's just laying there waiting for someone to play with it. It was a birthday present for my fourth birthday in November. I snatch it up. Cradling it to my chest with my brother. Slamming the room doors closed as fast as we can, we run downstairs. My sister runs out after my mom, they don't have shoes on. Looking at my other sister, we take the shoes, as many as we need for the five of us. It took less than a minute for our world to be turned upside down. How long until it goes back to normal? My mom took the phone from me, and called 911, we didn't have to wait long because the neighbours had already phoned. I stood there looking at the house, a monster was consuming my home, eating it as if it had been starving for months, years and nothing could stop it. The flames licking the walls as if they were satisfied by ruining this peaceful day. I stand here wishing I had gotten my bike so I could ride far far away. Away from the wails, away from the destruction.

Top Three List
The Top Three Amusement Parks to Visit
My choices are based on the following criteria:
1. How much fun I had there
2. Location
3. The popularity of park
4. Overall uniqueness
5. Amount of rides available
#3. Knott's Berry Farms
Knott's Berry Farms is only eight miles away from Disneyland in California. This is a great theme park because it has many roller coaster and has a very safe feeling to it. It isn't as crowded as many other amusement parks so when I went I found it very easy to travel from one ride to another. I like roller coasters which is great because they are the parks main attraction. Inside the park, they have Mrs. Knott's Chicken Diner Restaurant which is famous for its fried chicken, that is supposedly better than KFC's. Knott's Berry Farms didn't place second best on my list because it only has 39 rides and roller coasters in total.
#2. Canada's Wonderland
It is located close to Toronto already making it better than the rest because it's in Canada. It has the two fastest and tallest roller coasters in Canada; the behemoth which was number one until the Leviathan was built in 2012. They sell amazing funnel cakes and almost 200, 000 are sold in one season. Its great to spend a day with family there and I will never forget my experience. Also, Canada's Wonderland has a ride called the Sledge Hammer, it is a 'one-of-a-kind' attraction with no other similar ride ever built.
#1. Disneyland
Disneyland has such a welcoming feeling and great atmosphere. No one can ever be bored and the churros that are sold there are the best. It is in the Top 10 list of Amusement Parks around the World. The attention to the detail in the designs of all the buildings and rides is so thought out and that's what makes it special. Best of all, the original Disney characters come alive there, its every kids dream. Also, Disneyland has 6 locations around world, making it available for many populations around the world. I will never be tired of going there.

Changing History
Today, is a day to honor forever because I, Sukhvir Toor have invented the first ever time machine in the history of the world. Now, I can go back in time to the year of 1968 on July 16, one exceptional year before the notorious Americans landed on the moon. I will be distinguished as the first woman to land on the moon and I will be amidst the first people to ever walk on the moon. The treacherous journey will threaten to wear me out but I will endure it. I have a strong mind set and my stubborn personality will be profoundly beneficial. From present day, I can take an astronaut suit and shelf foods that can be brought into space. Also, I can study our new technologies before I leave; then I can give advice and assist the engineers in building the new spaceship. The government won't be able to think that I was an extraterrestrial there to destroy them, their future, and the Earth. They are inclined to welcome me with open arms, and treat me as their guest because I refuse to allow even the slightest crevice for contradictory thoughts to occur in their minds. When I meet Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau and show him the future technologies, together we will build the most outstanding spacecraft and have the first ever manned landing on the moon. The other astronauts and I will have an exceptional time together and become great friends. Having to use the bathroom will be a little foreign and unpleasant but everyone should be able to maintain their dignities. We all will need to acquire vigorous training prior to our departure. I will be deathly scared during take off and even more so when we reenter the Earth's audacious atmosphere because of all the imaginable negative outcomes. Spending eight monotonous days in space is going to be somewhat challenging and the training will have had to enhance our strength but it's also going to be a thrilling and euphoric experience. After my journey, Canada will be recognized for landing and walking on the moon’s surface before any other nation. We are going to triumph over the world's two superpowers and win the space race.
